About
![]() Living all of his life in the rural countryside of South Shropshire, Edd has always had a passion for the open land and the natural world. After discovering photography, his love for the outdoors provoked a deep interest in landscape photography. Developing a style that excludes the direct influence of man has resulted in an ever growing portfolio of work, where the raw power of nature within the landscape is evident. Conservation is at the heart of his style, offering a glimpse of the landscape before the destructive hand of man, which has changed most of Britain’s countryside forever. Edd’s favorite time to photograph the landscape is at either end of the day, when the sun is rising or setting. It is at these times that the light is at it’s most magical and the landscape at it’s most peaceful. Being the only person in a beautiful place at this time is quiet special. Edd believes the relationship between the light and the landscape is one that is often misunderstood, but key to the way we perceive a scene. Light also becomes the window to emotion within the landscape, offering textural depth and meaning, that seems to stir something deep within us. Coastal landscapes are what fascinate Edd the most. The endless variety thats offered from bay to bay, which brings a sense of enquiry, wander and amazement. Simple forms in such complex landscapes are the key to the coast, and making successful and dramatic photographs in these areas. Most recently, Edd has switched to shooting the landscape with a Large Format camera, using Fuji Velvia film. The approach to this is slow and thoughtful which allows full focus of the elements in the frame. Edd loves to travel to photograph the landscape. His recent travels have taken him to the Welsh coast on several occasions, along with a trip up into the Scottish Highlands and coastline. Though over the next year or so, Edd is going to focus his work on the local landscape, that of south Shropshire. It is in the local landscape that individual and original ideas can develop forming the base to an ever growing portfolio. Over the next few years, Edd hopes to continue to travel, photographing further destinations such as New Zealand and the deserts of the Americas. |
